MSC Annual Tryouts
Shape Your Future on the Field

Every May, McMinnville Soccer Club hosts its annual tryouts to form competitive teams for the upcoming seasonal year. We invite all local players who are looking for a higher level of play, professional coaching, and a community-focused environment to join us at Baker Field
​
At MSC, we view tryouts not just as an evaluation, but as a "Player Identification" session. Our goal is to place every athlete in an environment where they will be challenged, supported, and—most importantly—where they will grow.

What to Expect
Our evaluation team, led by experienced coaches, looks for more than just technical skill. We value:

Technical Ability: Ball control, passing accuracy, and "first touch."

Work Rate: Effort, hustle, and a desire to win the ball.

Coachability: How well a player listens and applies feedback during drills.

Character: Sportsmanship and a positive attitude toward teammates.

Parent Meeting: On the first night of each age group's tryout, we will hold a brief 15-minute meeting near the fields to discuss club philosophy, season commitments, and league fees.

Player Checklist
To ensure a smooth tryout experience, please arrive 20 minutes early on your first day and bring the following:

Registration: Ensure you have completed the online registration form before arriving.

Gear: Cleats, shin guards (required), and a non-club-affiliated white or grey t-shirt.

Hydration: A large water bottle clearly labeled with the player's name.

The Right Ball: U8–U12: Size 4 | U13+: Size 5

Ready to Join the Club?
Tryouts are $35 which covers the cost of OYSA Player Card and insurance. Registration is required for all participants.

Note on Age Groups: Following OYSA guidelines we have returned to school-year age grouping (August 1st – July 31st). This allows players to compete alongside their classmates and peers.
